Another federal judge blocks Trump’s birthright citizenship order
Good news: A U.S. district judge, Deborah Boardman, has temporarily blocked President Trump’s order to end birthright citizenship. The order, signed on January 20, aimed to deny citizenship to children born in the U.S. if their parents are non-citizens or on temporary visas. The judge ruled that this move could cause serious harm and goes against the 14th Amendment, which guarantees citizenship by birth. H-1B cap registration set to begin March 7th with higher fees & new rules
The H-1B visa process for FY 2026 kicks off on March 7, bringing mixed feelings for skilled foreign workers and employers. While the promise of opportunity remains, the registration fee hike from $10 to $215 has drawn criticism. But on the bright side, a beneficiary-centric system restricts applicants to one unique passport number to combat duplicate submissions and fraud. Employers and candidates must prepare carefully for the March 7-24 registration window and anticipate the final selection announcement by March 31.
The high cost of Trump's 104 Indians deportation push
Sad news: In a controversial push under former President Trump’s immigration crackdown, 104 Indians were deported from the U.S. The process came with a hefty price tag as the government spent millions on chartered flights and logistics to send them back to India. This move was part of Trump's policies targeting undocumented immigrants and visa violations. While the deportations aligned with his agenda, critics argue that the financial burden on taxpayers (not to mention the ethics around the process) raises serious questions about the efficiency and impact of such actions.
