On his first day, Trump signs an order to halt birthright citizenship
Huge news: Trump has signed an executive order that ends birthright citizenship for children born to non-citizens or temporary visa holders, effective February 20, 2025. This means children of parents on student, work, or visitor visas may no longer qualify for U.S. citizenship at birth. The order is already facing significant pushback. More than 22 states have filed a lawsuit in court, alongside groups like ACLU and NAACP, citing constitutional concerns. Expect heated legal battles in the coming weeks. Trump signed 13 executive orders on immigration already
Some important news: President Trump wasted no time on his first day in office, signing 13 executive orders that bring sweeping changes to U.S. immigration policy. These orders focus on ending birthright citizenship, tightening visa vetting, and putting an end to CHNV parole, among other major changes. The swift action signals a tougher immigration policy and sets the stage for a more restrictive approach to visas, asylum, and undocumented immigration. This marks a bold shift in U.S. immigration practices.
U.S. opens consulate in Bangalore after 18 years of effort
Exciting news: The U.S. has officially inaugurated its consulate in Bangalore, India, after nearly two decades of planning. While it won't process visa applications immediately, the consulate aims to strengthen political and economic ties between Karnataka and the U.S. This move is particularly important for the IT hub and multinational companies in the region.
