The H-1B FY 2026 lottery results are out
The H-1B visa lottery for fiscal year (FY) 2026 is complete, and USCIS has notified selected applicants via their myUSCIS accounts. If you registered, check your account for your selection status. Selected applicants can file an H-1B petition starting April 1, 2025, either online or by mail. Keep in mind that selection does not guarantee approval—petitions must still meet all USCIS requirements. If your status says “Submitted,” you may still have a chance in a future selection round.
U.S. revokes 300 student visas amid crackdown on campus protests
The U.S. has revoked 300 student visas, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating that students involved in campus protests can be removed. Once a visa is revoked, the individual may face deportation. Reports of detentions are rising, raising concerns among universities. Experts urge F-1 and J-1 holders to review their documents, limit travel, and keep SEVIS and enrollment records updated to avoid issues. Check out my LinkedIn post for more details.
Trump administration halts some green card processing for additional vetting
The Trump administration has paused some green card applications for extra security checks, mainly affecting refugees and asylum seekers. Experts note these applicants already passed strict vetting. The delay’s length is unclear, raising concerns about backlogs and USCIS funding. Similar policies in Trump’s first term slowed applications and strained resources.
