Columbia University student Yunseo Chung was detained for participating in political protests, with officials claiming it threatened U.S. foreign policy. This has sparked concerns about free speech and the rights of legal residents. Many fear stricter immigration enforcement could unfairly impact students and professionals. DHS cracks down on Tren De Aragua: 68 arrested in one week
DHS and ICE have arrested 68 members of the Tren De Aragua gang in under a week, part of a broader effort to dismantle the violent group. Originally from Venezuela, the gang is involved in human trafficking, drug smuggling, and brutal crimes. Since being designated a terrorist organization, nearly 400 members have been arrested in 100 days. A DHS spokesperson reaffirmed their commitment to keeping communities safe. Law enforcement efforts will continue to crack down on transnational crime.
Trump’s new social media policy could cause trouble for green card holders
A new social media policy proposed by the Trump Administration may create hurdles for Indian green card applicants. The policy could increase scrutiny of applicants’ online activity, potentially leading to delays or denials. Many fear this could disproportionately impact Indian professionals already facing long wait times for permanent residency. Immigration experts advise staying cautious about online posts as the proposal moves forward.
