Donald Trump returns to the White House as 47th POTUS
Donald Trump has won the US elections, getting a landslide victory in swing states. The US media has announced Trump's win. The highly polarized election campaign saw two assassination attempt bids on Trump. His rival Kamala Harris has secured 224 electoral colleges, while Trump has won 277 - the majority mark. He will be the second Republican to get a second term in office in 20 years.
U.S. to add 1 million visa slots in 2025 to cut wait times
The U.S. will add 1 million visa slots in 2025, aiming to reduce wait times as travel demand rises for major events like the FIFA World Cup and Olympics. While the median wait time for first-time visitor visa interviews is now under 60 days, Indian applicants still face long delays, with B1/B2 interview wait times ranging from 94 days in Delhi to nearly 500 in Kolkata. The cost of a B1/B2 visa for Indian citizens is $185.
U.S. hiring surge pushes employers to plan H-1B strategy early
The U.S. added 233,000 private-sector jobs in October, underscoring urgent hiring needs amid rising H-1B processing times, now up to 3.5 months. Employers are advised to prepare for the 2025 H-1B season early as global competition for talent heats up, with countries like Canada and the UK introducing streamlined visa options. U.S. companies must adapt by documenting talent needs, reinforcing immigration processes, and planning for potential policy shifts post-election.
